The IE Surf Boys youth soccer team experienced a rewarding and challenging clinic with LA Galaxy coaches on Saturday, March 15, 2014, claiming victory as the winners of the 2013 Recycle. Goal. competition. The IE Surf Boys collected more than 2,500 pounds of recyclable materials, including 1,150 pounds of plastics, to win the recycling contest supported by the American Chemistry Council (ACC), Keep California Beautiful (KCB), AEG, and the LA Galaxy. The annual competition among area soccer teams is now entering its fifth year.
The team enjoyed a 90-minute skills clinic from Andrew Reveles and Sergio Valencia of the LA Galaxy. Playing at their home field in San Bernardino, the boys practiced footwork, passing and finished with a small scrimmage.
Since the program’s inception, youth soccer players have helped collect more than 50,000 pounds of recyclables, including more than 10,000 pounds of plastic.
