Greater Sacramento Flexes Recycling Muscle

On Friday, August 16, 2013, ACC and River Cats Baseball fans joined together to celebrate  Recycling Awareness Night at Raley Field.  During the night more than 650 fans recycled 52 pounds of plastic materials. Event partners like Keep California Beautiful, Sacramento Conservation Corps, and Republic Waste Management Services helped educate the public about the importance of recycling at the first-time event.

During the River Cats game area businesses who are making a positive environmental impact by recycling or reusing plastics were honored at Raley Field. The companies included RC Willey in Rocklin, Baja Burrito in Elk Grove and Green Pallet in Rancho Cordova.  Local electeds and their representatives also attended to support and recognize the honored business from their district including Assemblymember Richard Pan, and Trent Sunahara, District Director for Assemblymember Ken Cooley.  The night culminated by honoring three children who recycled the most plastics with an opportunity to come onto the field at the end of the game to enjoy a post-game fireworks show.
