ACC and LA’s BEST Announce Recycling Poster Contest Finalists

The American Chemistry Council (ACC) and after-school program LA’s BEST announced the twelve finalists in a poster contest to display Los Angeles area students’ enthusiasm for recycling.  More than 60 LA’s BEST After School Enrichment Program school sites participated in the “Your Health, Your Planet” poster competition, which provided students the opportunity to show off their understanding of the “Reduce, Reuse, Recycle” slogan through art that expresses this important message.

The poster contest began just before Earth Day, as part of the Go H2O! Challenge, which is a multi-year partnership between LA’s BEST and ACC to educate elementary school students about the importance of healthy habits like drinking water and recycling more plastics and other materials to help protect the environment.

The fate of the 12 semi-finalists is now in the hands of a judging panel made up of LA’s BEST staff and local elected officials.  In June, two grand prize winners will be announced.  Top 12 school sites include (listed in no particular order):

  1. Stanley Mosk Elementary School
  2. N.E.W. Academy Canoga Park
  3. South Park Elementary School
  4. Broad Ave. Elementary School
  5. Roscoe Elementary School
