At ACC we’re always looking for creative ways to increase awareness and participation in plastics recycling. This month, we’re very excited about “Bin it!,” a new game and app for the iPhone and iPad that can be downloaded free from iTunes.

“Bin It!” is a game that challenges users to recycle by using their touchscreen to “toss” (or rather, flick) plastic bottles into virtual recycling bins.

It’s a lot of fun, and wait until you try it … your competitive side is bound to come out. Try tossing a bottle into the recycling bin from across the kitchen with a monkey screaming overhead or down a fashion runway while bears take flash photos to distract you. Not challenging enough? Throw in a fan to blow your bottles off course.

The game converts your successful tosses into the number of recycled t-shirts, sweaters and sleeping bags that can be made from the plastics that make it into the bin.
